Fierce Battle in Yonabaru: the Giant Tug of War

As the hot summer continues in Okinawa islands, the giant tug of war is coming to the town of Yonabaru this weekend.

The men participating in the tug of war are called “china mushi”, literally means rope samurai. Although there is quite a few tug of war events throughout Okinawa, I believe the term is only used in Yonabaru. They prepare the festival even from weeks before.
